CALIFORNIA DREAM WEEK (CADW) SUSTAINABILITY FESTIVAL DATES ANNOUNCED – MAY 10-13
CHICO, California, USA, 7 March 2012 — The 2nd edition of California Dream Week (CADW) Festival celebrating the creativity of California North State youth by renown international personalities from the world of architecture and design will take place in Chico from May 10-13, 2012.
The 4 day festival is the culmination of a sustainability design competition in which high school juniors and seniors competed to win higher education scholarships for their future and cash funds for their high schools. The winning ideas will be graphically celebrated by international architects and designers in a series of large artistic posters revealed for the festival in various Chico Downtown stores.
Visitors may purchase Passports to gain entrance to the Festival and the myriad of activities planned for the 4 day tribute to youth, creativity, sustainability and international cultural awareness.
The sustainability design competition was closed to new entries the end of February and projects are currently being advanced to the jury composed of Kevin Pierce, Mark Roberts and Melisa Lasell.
QUICK COMPETITION FACTS:
ï‚· Students from 39 California high schools participated, up 86% since 2011
ï‚· Student registrations, up 48% over 2011
ï‚· Student project submissions, up 57% over 2011
ï‚· Students in 12 Nor Cal counties participated, the same as in 2011
ï‚· 3 Categories for participation: Architecture/Interior Product Design, Transportation, Product Compliments
ï‚· 1st, 2nd, 3rd place award for each category, total of 9 awards possible
ï‚· Total of $5250 in higher education scholarships possible
ï‚· Student must be a Junior or Senior when enrolled to participate
ï‚· Each student winning project shared with a professional designer or architect who is asked to graphically show how they were inspired by the student’s dream
ï‚· Winning students and professional designer projects will be revealed during the Festival Week May 10-13
